Multiplayer - Username doesn't always show up in multiplayer chat or it uses the host name

When using multiplayer chat, sometimes the user's name doesn't get transmitted with the message resulting in a message that appears to have come from no one. I've only noticed this when 4 or more individuals are in a server.
