AyJayAreDii 2026-07-12 12:30 UTCFuel tanks are drained at a rate linked directly to the reactor power level. If you do not lower the reactor power level when stationary, you will still drain fuel at the same rate as you would when in motion. This is the equivalent of sitting in a stationary car with your foot on the throttle while in neutral gear.

2026-07-12 14:55 UTCI get those same draining times whether the reactor power level sits at 100% or 10%. I tried decreasing the power level from 100% to 10% both from the bridge engineering terminal and from the reactor controls terminal in the reactor room, with the same result.

2026-07-12 15:10 UTCHowever, it is true that those times shown on the engineering terminal on the bridge count down considerably more slowly than they should in real time when the reactor is at 10% power level. In that case, the bug lies in the representation of those times in the terminal. My bad.

2026-07-12 21:56 UTCSo just to make up for my previous sloppyness, the deuterium tank in the bridge terminal, marked to deplete after 1h 18m 59s when 100% full, "parked" in orbit and with the reactor power level at 10%, will actually take around 14 hours to deplete completely. That is perfectly reasonable from a gamer perspective because very few people will spend that time in orbit doing nothing. But for the geekest of the geekest, it would break immersion in a fully released game. Following the car analogy above, imagine captain Kirk having to visit the petrol station every time he had to spend 14 hours in orbit...

2026-07-16 18:42 UTCYeah you are correct. they dont adjust time to empty with the power level. so i will confirm the ticket. the recator can be turned off when in orbit. it is powering the FTL, the engines and the charging the batteries but everything else run directly from the battery banks. No idleing while stationary :)
